Alfredo Maria Bonanno
Alfredo Maria Bonanno (* 1937 in Catania ) is an Italian insurrectionalist .
Life
Alfredo Bonanno was sentenced to a year and a half in prison for his 1977 book The Armed Joy , and the work was removed from libraries.
He was among several hundred Italian anarchists who were arrested on the night of June 19, 1997 when Italian police raided anarchist centers and private homes across the country following an attack on Palazzo Milano on April 25, 1997. On February 2, 2003, Bonanno was sentenced to six years in prison and a fine of 3,000 euros for armed robbery and other offenses. This judgment came in connection with the Marini trial , in which Italian anarchists were convicted of belonging to an armed group of which Bonanno was the leader.
On October 4, 2009, Bonanno was arrested with the Greek anarchist Christos Stratigopolous in Trikala , central Greece , on suspicion of an armed bank robbery. In November 2010, he was sentenced to four years in prison and released because of his age. Christos was sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison. 46,900 euros in cash were found in their vehicle.
Think
In his works, Alfredo Bonanno primarily propagates the self-organized, individual and independent armed uprising and is considered to be one of the central representatives of rebellious anarchism or insurrectionalism. He describes capitalism as the “project of death” and contrasts it with the “joy of life”, which should be expressed in the armed resistance of the individual. He paints a dystopian picture of society in which now is the right moment for uprisings, as the prisons would first be transformed into special prisons for revolutionaries, then into model prisons and finally into real camps for manipulating the brain and, finally, into madhouses . As an armed party , he rejects hierarchical organizations like the Red Brigades .
The anarchism understands Bonanno an anarchist primarily as a transformation process and only secondarily as a political ideology . For him, anarchism is constant reflection and the resulting personal and social change. Bonanno criticizes liberals and supporters of democracy in their limited utopia, which is manifested, for example, in the striving for the minimal state and greater freedom , but not in freedom itself, which he defines as limitlessness. The same is true of the controls that democrats want to minimize but anarchists want to abolish. Anarchists are also the only activists for whom there is no contradiction between theory and practice and the anarchist claim can be implemented spontaneously in the immediate environment.
The anarcho-syndicalism and his firm, members strongest possible organization as a union understands Bonanno as outdated concept of a single, fixed to the working age. Contemporary society is based on telematized technology and society is no longer easy to transform anarchistically, as was imaginable in the 20th century. The form of anarchist organization, which is formed from the informal organization of individual affinity groups , is appropriate to this reality . In his words, this is a group that is also very tiny and consists of a few comrades who know each other well and is a group that meets to discuss, but which helps to develop the discussion through discussions (...) to turn into practice in the other moment.
