Alhazen is an impact crater near the eastern edge on the front of the Earth's moon . It is connected to the Hansen crater in the south-southeast by a low ridge . The Mare Crisium extends to the west .

Alhazen is almost circular, but appears strongly oval from Earth due to optical distortion. The inner crater walls and the floor are furrowed and irregular.

The lunar crater was named in honor of Abu Ali al-Hasan ibn al-Haitham named
