Ali Chulqi el-Sharayiri

Ali Chulqi asch-Sharayiri ( Arabic علي خلقي الشرايري, DMG ʿAlī Ḫulqī aš-Šarāyirī , also transcribed Ali Khulqi Alsharairi ; * 1878 in Irbid , Jordan ; † June 25, 1960 ) was a Jordanian politician from the very beginning.

Youth and education

When he was young, Ali supported his father in agriculture and helped him with arable farming. Ali Chulqi soon realized that he had to develop further and decided to travel to Damascus via Dar'a to enroll in the local military academy . After successfully completing his studies there, he completed further studies at the military academy in Istanbul in 1895 , whereupon he joined the Ottoman army as an officer .

Political career

In 1919 Ali Chulqi al-Sharayiri was appointed governor of the Sanjak of Karak and in August 1919 he was also in charge of Quneitra , after which he finally took over complete control of northern Jordan during the collapse of the Ottoman Empire.

Ali Chulqi al-Sharayiri was appointed Minister of Defense under the first Jordanian government in 1921 and Minister of Education between 1923 and 1924 under the Abu Hassan al Huda government.
