The Ali Group (Italian Apparecchiature Lavaggio Industriale) is a global Italian manufacturer of "food service equipment" (professional devices and machines to support food preparation facilities such as large restaurants, hotel chains, hospitals, schools, airports, prisons, canteens). Products include dishwashers , stoves and refrigerators. The group employs over 10,000 people in 30 countries (as of December 2018) and describes itself as the market leader in the industry in Europe.

history

The company was founded in 1963 by Luciano Berti in Milan under the name Comenda. At the time, Berti held a 30% share in a manufacturer of professional dishwashers. The company grew rapidly. In the 1970s, over 75% of production was exported and production licenses were granted to Canada, Australia and South Africa. In 1979 Berti and his family moved to the USA, where a large company had been taken over by his group. In 1991 he returned to Italy. He was CEO of the ALI Group until August 31, 2016 and was then replaced by his son, Filippo Berti. Luciano Berti still holds the post of CEO.
