Aliana Brodmann E. von Richthofen

Aliana Brodmann E. von Richthofen (born January 2, 1949 in Munich ) is a German and English-speaking author. She publishes under her maiden name Aliana Brodmann.

Brodmann E. von Richthofen is the daughter of Jewish Holocaust survivors. Between 1967 and 1970 she worked as a freelancer for the Kölnische Rundschau , the Kölner Stadtanzeiger and the Neue Rheinzeitung . In 1970 she passed her state examination in art, English and German at the University of Education in Cologne. She emigrated to the USA in 1971 .

Since the late 1970s she has published several books for children and young people as well as articles and essays in German and US newspapers.

Aliana Brodmann E. von Richthofen had been a member of the PEN Center for German-Speaking Authors Abroad since the early 1980s and was an advisory board member alongside Erich Wolfgang Skwara . She was the first female president of this PEN center from 2003 to 2005.

She lives in Wellesley, Massachusetts , USA .
