Alid is an isolated, fragmented volcano in the Danakil Depression in Eritrea . Its height is 904 meters. Large amounts of ash were thrown out by rhyolitic eruptions in the late Pleistocene . A rift measuring 2 kilometers by 3 kilometers cuts through the lava dome. Small cones and craters along north-northwest running crevices show the origin of large lava flows . Fumarole activity is still evident near the northern summit and flank .
