Alison Streeter

Alison Streeter (* 1964 ) is a British long-distance swimmer who is best known as a channel swimmer . For her achievements, she was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 2006 and made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).

Streeter holds a number of records in the field of canal swimming. In 1983 she was the youngest swimmer (sixth person in total) to manage a double crossing, which took her 21 hours and 16 minutes, and in 1990 she was the first woman to cross the canal non-stop three times (34 hours 40 minutes). It also holds the record for most crossings ever, with a total of 43, of which 7 within one year.

Streeter also holds the record for the fastest crossing of the North Channel from Scotland to Ireland (10 hours 2 minutes) and was the first woman to swim the Irish Sea . She swam around Jersey Island (69 km) and also from Capri to Naples , as well as many other long distances around the world.
