Alcippe (daughter of Ares)
Alcippe ( Greek Ἀλκίππη ) is a figure in Greek mythology .
She was the daughter of the god Ares and Aglauros . When Halirrhothios , a son of Poseidon , tried to rape her, Ares took revenge on him by killing Halirrhothios. For this he was charged by Poseidon. However, the twelve gods who held the trial on the Areopagus acquitted him.
According to legend, this is how the Areopagus got its name ("Hill des Ares") and its function as the seat of the supreme criminal court, which it retained until late antiquity .
