Allée couverte du Grand Village

The Allée couverte du Grand Village (also called Bez Mein-Meur ar Ger-Vras ) is located southwest of Caro near Ploërmel in the Morbihan department in Brittany in France . The complex was built in the final phase of the Neolithic .

The more disturbed gallery grave is very narrow and at 25 meters was one of the longest of its kind. The monument had a side entrance roughly in the middle of the south side , structurally comparable to a passage grave of Nordic megalithic architecture , which distinguishes it from most Allée couvertes, the entrance side of which is axial (with side entrance e.g. Crec'h Quillé and Four Sarrazin ) .

The complex had eight cap stones and 26 bearing stones of which seven are still in place. It was once covered by a tumulus made of quartz stones .
