All Nations Festival

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The All Nations Festival was a one-day, annual event in Berlin , at which several embassies and cultural institutes offered an open day . The event was organized by the Berlin Society for International Encounters (BGiB). Cooperation partners were the SOS Children's Villages and be Berlin .

Origin and development

The event was first held in 2001. The participation of the states was voluntary and varied from year to year. For the 6th All Nations Festival on May 20, 2006, 29 embassies were open. The festival counted 9000 visitors. The 8th All Nations Festival with 25 participating embassies took place on July 5th, 2008, one day after the opening of the new American embassy on Pariser Platz . On the occasion of the 10th anniversary, the festival was named a Selected Location of the Germany - Land of Ideas initiative.

In 2011 the theme of the event was "School". The visitors were given an insight into how school systems are structured in other countries and what requirements students have to meet there. In addition, as every year, cultural events and local specialties were offered. The coordinator of the event, Carsten Diercks, expected around 15,000 visitors in 2011, as in previous years.

Festival pass

Entry to the embassies was free. Those who wanted could get a Festival Pass in advance from the city's tourist information offices, the Berlin Infostores . It was a booklet modeled on a passport , in which the participating institutions were listed with a map of how to get there. There were also free pages in the booklet on which the participants could have a fictitious visa stamp stamped in the respective embassy .

Others

A valid identity card or passport was required to enter . The festival no longer takes place (2018); The website gives reasons for the deadline and the lack of sponsors as reasons for this.
