The All People's Congress ( APC ) is a social liberal political party in Sierra Leone . The party has the largest number of seats in parliament. The motto of the party is A new Direction for a better and brighter Sierra Leone ( German  A new direction for a better and more beautiful Sierra Leone ).

It was a ruling party from 1968 to 1992, and from 1978 the only party allowed under a one-party system. The most famous chairmen include former presidents Siaka Stevens and Joseph Saidu Momoh . Momoh was ousted from office in 1992 in a military revolt.

In the first elections after the civil war in Sierra Leone , the APC won 19.8% of the vote and 22 of the 112 elected parliamentary seats on May 14, 2002. The chairman and presidential candidate Ernest Bai Koroma won 22.3% of the vote.

After years of internal disputes, Koroma prevailed and was named a presidential candidate for the upcoming elections in April 2007. In August, the APC clearly won the parliamentary elections and won 59 of the 112 seats. Ernest Bai Koroma received 44.3% of the vote, clearly more than the favorite and Vice President Solomon Berewa . The runoff election for president took place on September 8, 2007. Koroma won 60% of the vote, Berewa 40%.
