Allan Moore (born December 25, 1964 in Glasgow ) is a former Scottish football player and current coach . He is currently coaching the Scottish second division club Greenock Morton .
Player career
Allan Moore played in his youth at the Possilpark YMCA sports school in Glasgow. In 1983 he got his first job with the then Scottish second division club FC Dumbarton . After the first season, the club rose to runner-up in the Scottish Premier League , but was only able to hold out for one season and was relegated again. From 1986 to 1989, the midfielder played for Heart of Midlothian , but never grew beyond a reserve role, which is why he went to St. Johnstone in 1989 . There he rose again after just one season in the Premier League and played with the Saints in this league until 1994. Then the club was relegated and Moore moved to Dunfermline Athletic . Three years later, the then third division club FC Livingston , which was only founded in 1995, followed the Scotsman's next stop. At this club he was only a reserve player and therefore went to the next club, Airdrieonians FC, a year later . He stayed with the second division for two years and played over 50 league games. Allan Moore then played for various clubs, but for a maximum of one season each and was rarely used due to his increased age. Other stations were Partick Thistle , with whom Moore was able to celebrate promotion to the second division in 2001, as well as the third division clubs Greenock Morton and Queen of the South .
Coaching career
Allan Moore has had a contract with Stirling Albion since 2002 . First he started as a player-coach and played six more games for the then fourth division, which should also be the last of his active career. The Scot had found a smooth transition into his time as a coach. At the end of the 2003/04 season he managed to move up to the third division with the team . Only three years later, Stirling even managed to move up to the second division and Moore's successes at the club continued. At the end of the 2007/08 season, his team then rose back to the third division as bottom of the table.
