Allan C. Weisbecker (* 1948 in Montauk ) is an American writer , screenwriter and surfer .

Life

Allan C. Weisbecker is the author of the books Cosmic Banditos (1986), In Search of Captain Zero (2001) and Can't you get along with anyone (2006). The author's life is shaped by surfing. He is considered the pioneer of those surfers who were the first to surf the east coast of the United States in the 1960s. Allan Weisbecker later financed his lifestyle by smuggling marijuana. When he discovered his talent for writing, he moved to Hollywood, where he worked as a screenwriter, including for series such as Miami Vice . But even that he gave up after a few years, he took a long break and traveled to the south of America, on the one hand to look for a long-term friend, on the other hand to be able to devote himself completely to surfing. Allan Weisbecker now lives in Montauk, Long Island again.

Allan C. Weisbecker's books are characterized by their autobiographical traits. His first work, Cosmic Banditos from 1981, tells of an American drug smuggler who flees from the police in the Colombian jungle. Weisbecker, himself a marijuana smuggler for years, describes the book as semi-autobiographical. His second novel from 2001, In Search of Captain Zero , tells of his journey across the American continent to South America to find a long-time friend who was believed to be lost. The last book so far was published in 2006, Can't you get along with anyone , and tells of Weisbecker's long-term relationship with his former girlfriend Lisa. John Cusack and Sean Penn own the film rights to Weisbecker's first two books.
