It was the organ of the state beekeeping associations of Baden, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the German Beekeeping Association and also contained its news.

The ADIZ was published in January 1967 and replaced the 1966 discontinued "Deutsche Bienenwirtschaft". It originally appeared in the Bad Godesberg Delta-Verlag, later it was published by the Deutsche Landwirtschaftsverlag . Jürgen Schwenkel has been editor-in-chief since 1999.
