General prison service also AVD, designates the prison officers of the middle civil service career ( middle service ) in the prisons .
Grades
Pay grades in prison :
- A7 - Senior Secretary in the penal system
- A8 - Chief Secretary in the penal system
- A9 - Official inspector in the penal system
- A9Z - official inspector with official allowance
- A10 - Chief Inspector, In particularly prominent positions such as B. the head of the AVD (general enforcement service)

education
The training to become a judicial officer lasts 24 months. It comprises 14 months of practical training in various penal institutions ( remand , juvenile and criminal detention ) and ten months of theoretical training at a penal school (in North Rhine-Westphalia, the penal school in North Rhine-Westphalia ). tasks
"In the execution of the prison sentence, the prisoner should be able to lead a life without criminal offenses in the future in social responsibility (prison goal). The execution of the prison sentence also serves to protect the general public from further criminal offenses. "
