Walther Reichel
Walther Reichel (born September 20, 1914 in Berlin-Charlottenburg , † January 25, 1945 south of Opole ) was a German classical archaeologist .
After graduating from the Ratsgymnasium in Hanover , Reichel began studying classical archeology in Berlin and Munich in the summer semester of 1933 . On May 9, 1940, he received his doctorate with Ernst Buschor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich with a thesis on the subject of Greek gold relief . The work is considered to be a bit hasty due to the war; it was published by the Archaeological Institute of the German Reich . For 1942/43 he was awarded the travel grant of the German Archaeological Institute that he could not compete due to the war. Reichel fell as a soldier in the Wehrmacht .
