Alliance of March 8th
The Alliance of March 8 ( Arabic تحالف 8 آذار, DMG Taḥāluf 8 Āḏār ) is an alliance of various political parties in Lebanon and formed a government coalition of the country under Najib Mikati from 2011 to 2013 .
history
The name goes back to March 8, 2005, when various parties called for a mass demonstration in Beirut in response to the Cedar Revolution . The demonstration thanked Syria for ending the Lebanese civil war and helping to resist Israel .
Although the Free Patriotic Movement (CPL), the basis of the March 14 alliance was that a war of liberation against Syrian occupation began on March 14, 1989, at the cedar revolution on 14 March 2005 with the expulsion of the Syrian army was someone left the Free Patriotic Movement formed the Alliance of March 14th on February 6th, 2006 and signed a memorandum of understanding with the conservative Shiite Hezbollah . The CPL considered its work against the Syrian regime to be over when its army left Lebanon in April 2005.
