Allied World Assurance is a Swiss insurance broker based in the Park Tower in Zug . The company operates in both the direct and reinsurance industries.
history
The company was founded in November 2001 with four employees by a consortium of several investors, including the American International Group , Chubb Corporation , Goldman Sachs and Swiss Re , and today employs over 1,000 people. In October 2002, the European branch was founded in Ireland. A branch in London followed in May 2003 and in Zug in October 2008. The company also has ten offices in the United States , Bermuda , Hong Kong and Singapore .
On November 30, 2010, the group moved its headquarters from the Bermuda Islands to Zug in Switzerland . Linked to this was the transformation of the group into a stock corporation under Swiss law .
In July 2017, Allied World Assurance was acquired by Canadian competitor Fairfax Financial for $ 4.9 billion and converted into a GmbH .
