Almaric St Amand, 3rd Baron St Amand
Almaric St Amand, 3rd Baron St. Amand (according to other counting also 4th Baron St Amand ) († 1402 ) was an English nobleman and military.
Origin and life
Almaric St Amand was the eldest son of his father of the same name, Almaric St Amand, 2nd Baron St Amand and his wife Joan Handlo . After the death of his father in 1381, St Amand inherited the family estates, which were mainly in southern England. On August 9, 1382, he was first invited to Parliament by Writ of Summons . Under King Richard II , he took part in several campaigns to Scotland . However, he apparently welcomed the overthrow of the king, because he was made Knight of the Bath on the eve of the coronation of the new King Henry IV in October 1399 .
Marriages and offspring
St Amand was married twice. In his first marriage he had married Ida , with her he had several children, including:
- Alianore St Amand ∞ Gerard de Braybrooke
In his second marriage, St Amand married Alianore St Elen . With her he had at least one daughter:
- Ida St Amand ∞ Thomas West, 2nd Baron West
It is not known whether his only son Almaric came from his first or second marriage. He died as a child in 1403. Thereupon the title of Baron St. Amand fell in Abeyance , while the property of the St Amand family was divided between Gerard de Braybrooke, son of St Amand's eldest daughter Alianore, and the younger daughter Ida St Amand.
