history

Almendra was founded in 1967 by former musicians from the Larkins and Sbirros groups . After a single release in September 1968 and two more, the group went on tour. She then brought out a first, self-titled album in 1969 and Album II in 1970 . Her greatest success was the song Muchacha (Ojos de Papel) . Breaking differences in the group led to the breakup of the band after participating in the Buenos Aires Rock Festival .

In 1979 the band was briefly brought back to life; the musicians released a live album and the new title El Valle Interior .

On February 8, 2012, rhythm guitarist Luis Alberto Spinetta died of lung cancer at the age of 62 .
