Almerimar is a luxury urbanization in the city of El Ejido in the province of Almería in southern Spain .
Almerimar expanded around and after the turn of the millennium along the Mediterranean Sea to Guardias Viejas . Rocks were removed to create more residential complexes. Almerimar has a marina with 1100 berths and an adjacent golf course. Almerimar is flanked by a nature reserve where birds such as flamingos, which are rare in Europe, have settled. Various films and series were shot in Almerimar, such as Aufachse with Manfred Krug or Conan the Barbarian with Arnold Schwarzenegger .
