Alois Guger

Alois Guger (born September 3, 1944 ) is an Austrian economist .

Life

After studying economics at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz, which he graduated with an academic degree in 1971, Alois Guger was a university assistant at the Institute for Economics and Economic Policy at the Technical University of Vienna . From 1981 until his retirement in 2009 worked at the Austrian Institute for Economic Research (WIFO) as a research assistant; between 1998 and 2002 he was also part of the WIFO management team. Alois Guger taught macroeconomics, income distribution and economic policy at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, the Vienna University of Technology and the Vienna University of Economics and Business as a lecturer.

Work

Alois Guger has published theoretical and empirical work on employment theory and policy, on price and wage formation, as well as on questions of income policy and income distribution . In the eighties he brought the experience of the Austrian social partnership into the international neo-corporatism discussion at the time .

He was a member of the Austrian Pension Commission until 2009 and has emerged as a pension expert in the reform debates since the mid-1990s. Alois Guger published regularly on wage and distribution policy and coordinated the WIFO studies initiated by parliament on redistribution by the state in Austria.
