Alois Ketzlik

Alois Ketzlik (born November 23, 1886 in Vienna , † August 20, 1938 in Butowo ) was an Austrian communist.

Ketzlik was a printer by trade and a union member. In 1919 he joined the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ). From 1922 to 1932 he sat on the Central Committee , at times also in the party's Politburo . He became a trade union official, Chamber of Labor council and editor of the Red Flag . Ketzlik took part in the 3rd and 4th Congress of the Comintern . In 1933 he fled to the Soviet Union via Prague . In 1938 he fell victim to the Stalin purges there .

His partner Margarete Mengel , a communist from Düsseldorf and employee of the Deutsche Zentral-Zeitung in Moscow, was arrested on February 14, 1938 and also shot on August 20, 1938 in Butowo.
