The Alpa Esse is a two-man racing dinghy from the former Italian sports boat manufacturer Alpa from Milan. The dinghy has a trapeze and a spinnaker . It is comparable to the 470 dinghy . The Alpa Esse is no longer being built because the shipyard no longer exists.

hull

The open or non-existent mirror is characteristic of this dinghy . The hull is designed in such a way that the stern always remains a few centimeters above the surface of the water and splash water that has entered the cockpit can always flow away. This eliminates the bilge valve common in other sailing dinghies . The hull is made of GRP . The side bulges are hollow and serve as a float in the event of capsizing. In most cases, however, inflatable floats made of PVC are also inserted into the bulges in order to protect the dinghy from sinking even in the event of water entering through the hatch in the front cockpit area.

Rigging, rigging and sails

The mast and boom are made of aluminum. The mast is secured laterally by two steel shrouds and at the front by a forestay . Two steel trapeze cables are attached to the mast. The dinghy is generally equipped with a mainsail and a genoa. There is also a spinnaker.
