The Alpha high-rise is a residential high-rise in the city of Langen (Hesse) .

history

The Alpha high-rise was built on a site east of Langen (Hessen) train station in 1974–76. According to the original plans, which assumed a much greater population growth in the Rhine-Main area, a total of eight residential high-rise buildings were to be built on the site; the highest, the Alpha Center, would have reached a total of 35 floors. In fact, only one skyscraper was built, which is now called the Alpha Skyscraper. The rest of the area is empty to this day.

architecture

With a height of 87 meters and 27 floors, it was for a long time the tallest residential high-rise in Hessen and one of the tallest in Germany. The Alpha high-rise consists of two residential towers that are connected to one another via a central elevator and stairwell. One tower has 26 and the other 27 floors. The Alpha high-rise has a total of 226 residential units, in which around 800 people live. The top floor offers a view that stretches from Hochheim am Main via Frankfurt am Main Airport to the Taunushauptkamm. Unlike comparable large housing estates, the Alpha high-rise is not a social hotspot.
