Kitalpha , also Kitalphar ( Arabic قطعة الفرس, DMG qiṭʿat al-faras  'part of the horse') is the proper name of the star α Equulei (Alpha Equulei). Kitalpha belongs to the spectral class G0III and has a brightness of +3.95 mag. The spectroscopic double star is about 186 light years away from Earth ( Hipparco's database).
