The Old German Shepherd is a breed of dog that evolved from the long-haired variant of the German Shepherd . It is not recognized as a breed by the FCI . Since 2010, the long stick hair type has also been recognized as a variant of the German Shepherd Dog.
Origin and history
The term Old German Shepherd Dog is used today in common parlance to describe the German Shepherd Dog with a longer top coat. This is bred in different associations.
The reason can be found in the history of the German Shepherd Dog . After the Association for German Shepherds (SV) had decided that the long-haired type should no longer be allowed for breeding, some breeders founded their own breed club in order to maintain the long-haired or long-haired type through their own breeding. The name "Altdeutscher Schäferhund" was used.
The SV decided to allow the long-haired type to breed again from 2010.
Originally, the term old german shepherd dog some old German Shepherd blows that did not work out in the breeding of the German Shepherd and now under the umbrella term Old German Shepherd dogs are summarized. Regardless of this, the original name is still used.
description
The appearance corresponds roughly to that of the German Shepherd Dog, but its coat is long with a soft undercoat. He has long fur, so-called flags, on the ears, legs and the bushy tail, clear trousers on the legs and a mane on the neck. The colors are the same as the German Shepherd Dog.

Its essence corresponds to that of the German Shepherd Dog with shorter stick hair.
