Old Monstein Church
The old Monstein church in the Davos village of Monstein above the Landwassertal is a former Protestant - Reformed church under the protection of monuments of the Canton of Graubünden .
history
It was created in 1668/69 in the time after the Graubünden turmoil . Until then, pastoral care was provided from Glaris . The new building was also based on its model and that of the Frauenkirchner Church .
In 1885 the bell from 1670 from the founding time was replaced by two new ones. The first ringing caused cracks in the side walls, which meant that the church had to be abandoned as a place of worship and the new Reformed village church was built.
Ownership and Use
From then on, the old church was owned by the political community of the Davos fraction Monstein, which used the building as a fire station from 1910 to 1960. A renovation from 1976 to 1987 meant that the church can now again be used as a meeting room for occasional services and village events.
