Reformed Church of Davos Frauenkirch
The Reformed Church in Frauenkirch in Davos is an Evangelical - Reformed church under protection of the canton of Grisons .
History and equipment
The church was built around 1350 and placed under the patronage of Mary . Since then, until the adoption of the Reformation , it was called the Church of Our Lady in the Davos region .
On January 16, 1602, the church was largely destroyed by an avalanche, but rebuilt a year later, with the characteristic avalanche splitting wedge on the slope , which has since proven itself several times.
During his time in Davos, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner drafted plans for glass windows in the choir , but they were not implemented.
The interior of the church is dominated by a pulpit without a sound cover on the left and a central baptismal table , which also functions as a place for the Lord's Supper , which precedes the choir, which is closed on three sides.
Church organization
The Frauenkirch church is part of the Graubünden Evangelical Reformed Church in the X Davos-Albula Colloquium . After being connected to Glaris in a pastoral community for decades, Frauenkirch merged with Glaris, Monstein and Wiesen to form the parish of Davos Altein on January 1, 2016 .
