Old mill Templin

The old mill Templin is a listed former watermill in Templin in Brandenburg .

location

It is located in the western part of the Templin old town, west of the Mühlentor of the historic Templin city fortifications at the address Am Mühlentor 1. The mill is on the left bank of the Templin Canal , which connects the city lake with the Röddelin lake .

Architecture and history

A first documentary mention comes from the year 1320. Other data already mention the middle of the 13th century. The water mill was owned by the city of Templin for several centuries. It was destroyed by fires several times. In 1574, after a dam broke on the Dolgensee , a flood occurred which also damaged the mill. The old mill Templin was however rebuilt each time. The mill served as Grütz- , millet , Lohmann , cutting and fulling mill . Later it was also used as a flour mill . It was part of the Neubrandenburger Mühlenwerke as a grain mill until 1990, but was then shut down.

The building was renovated in 2005/2006. A fitness studio has been operated in the mill since 2006. The mill's premises can be rented for events.
