This article describes the weights and measures in Greece from 1836.

With a law of September 28, 1836 , a new system of measures and weights was introduced. The French measure and weight system was used. In the case of old units of the same name, “royal” has been added to the new dimensions to distinguish them.

Length measurements

  • 1 royal piki / cubit = 1 French meter
  • 1 piki = 10 palms = 100 inches = 1000 lines
  • 1 piki = 1.5432 old small piki = 1.4948 old large piki
  • 1 royal stadium = 1000 piki
  • 1 Greek mile = 10 royal stadiums.
  • 1 hamma = 40 cubits

Volume measurements

Kotylis was a deciliter and Mistra was a centiliter . The cube was considered to be the small unit of measurement, milliliters .

  • 1 royal drachm (= French grams) = 10 obolis = 100 grains
