The Roman Catholic old parish church in Fliess is located in the Austrian municipality of Fliess . The church, under the feast of the Assumption of Mary , belongs to the Deanery Prutz in the diocese of Innsbruck . The church is a listed building .

history

The late Gothic church with a Romanesque tower is raised in the center of the village. The parish is mentioned in a document in 1220. The interior of the church was redesigned from 1693 to 1696 by the builders Christian Knabl and Jakob Mark. The tower, presumably from the 13th century, is divided over five floors by round arch friezes. In the bell storey there are triplet windows, underneath are walled-up twin windows. The late Gothic pointed gable helmet has tracery windows in the gable fields.

architecture

The church building is structured in a late Gothic style with triangular pilaster strips, has a painted tendril frieze under the eaves, the nave and choir are equally wide. The choir with a 3/8 end shows a painted corner squaring on the outside. The baroque sacristy extension is on the south side of the choir.

The four-bay nave and the single-bay choir have a barrel vault with pointed arches, which were provided with a stucco rib network in 1696. The west gallery on two columns is from the 17th century. The octagonal late Gothic font with heraldic reliefs from 1523 has a baroque lid.

Furnishing

Joseph Pfandler created the baroque high altar from 1862. The figure of St. Magnus at the end of the 17th century is attributed to the sculptor Jakob Auer . Other figures are attributed to Andreas Thamasch's workshop.

During the church renovation in 1992/1993, a lower church was created. The bones of pastor Alois Maaß were reburied there from their previous location in front of the Marien Altar, the grave was designed as a “fountain of life” made of bronze and glass by Engelbert Gridle . In the crypt there is also a memorial for Alois Maaß and the Fließer martyrs Otto Neururer and Franz Flür , which was also designed by Engelbert Gridle.

The cemetery has niche shrines in the cemetery wall, some with stucco decoration from the 17th century and station pictures from 1963. There is a rococo wrought iron cross from the 18th century. In the cemetery is the two-bay chapel for the dead, built around 1840, with a round apse and barrel cap.

The war memorial at the south portal shows a larger than life crucifix by Andreas Hatzl from 1932 based on a design by Franz Josef Kranewitter .
