The Old Synagogue in Livorno , the capital of the Italian province of Livorno in the Tuscany region , was built in 1603 and redesigned in 1642. The synagogue in the style of Baroque was at the Piazza Benamozegh. In the middle of the 19th century, the historian Ferdinand Gregorovius described it as “perhaps the richest in the world”.

During the Second World War, the US Air Force bombed the city and destroyed large parts of the center and the old synagogue.

In 1962 the new synagogue, built on the site of the old synagogue, was inaugurated.
