The Alte Wandelhalle is a modest wooden building on the promenade in the town of Bad Wörishofen in the Unterallgäu district ( Bavaria ).

history

The listed building was erected in September 1890 by a spa committee under Prince Albrecht von Solms-Braunfels . The designs come from the Hungarian architect Koloman von Rimanóczy from Großwardein . Ludwig Geromiller was in charge of construction. The master carpenter Johann Natterer from Türkheim carried out the construction. In 1937 the building was renovated.

architecture

The foyer is a frame structure made of slim round timbers. The hall, originally 80 meters long, was divided into three parts. On the east side, facing the street, there is a central projection. This is with a longitudinal gable roof , the other building components are covered with a transverse gable roof. Inside, a wooden pulpit is placed in front of the west wall in the middle. This pulpit was used by Sebastian Kneipp to give lectures. Above the pulpit there are memorial plaques about the construction of the building as well as a relief bust made of bronze by Sebastian Kneipp. The plaster statue of the Virgin Mary (copy) above the pulpit and the relief bust are donated by Princess Ebba von Solms-Braunfels.
