Altenhof (Barsinghausen)

Altenhof was a village in what is now the city of Barsinghausen in the Hanover region in Lower Saxony .

The Alte Hof , which was probably built around 1500, is first mentioned in 1557 as an independent village. The Altenhof, also known as Ohlendorf in 1582, was under the jurisdiction of the Barsinghausen Monastery until the 18th century .

Altenhof's population consisted mainly of farmers, but also servants and craftsmen of the monastery. There was a hospice here as early as 1200 . After the new building in 1673, the Klosterkrug restaurant was created.

As early as 1827, Altenhof, north-west of the monastery, was incorporated into Barsinghausen.

In today's Altenhofstrasse in Barsinghausen, several half-timbered buildings from Altenhof have been preserved as architectural monuments from the 18th and 19th centuries. The Barsinghausen-Altenhof forest interest group administers a part of the Deister area west of Barsinghausen.
