Altenrode (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Altenrode (also Alterode) is a desert north of Volkstedt in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt . The place was a spring village and lay in a hollow on the way from Volkstedt to Augsdorf . The stream that began here flowed south and has now partially dried up. The Alteröder tunnel is named after the desert.
