Alter is a small impact crater on the northern hemisphere of the back of the moon. It is southwest of the larger Robertson Crater and east of Ohm Crater .
The outer rim of the crater is eroded, mainly on the northern and southern foothills. A small crater lies on the south-southeast edge. A column runs from the south edge in a north-northeast direction over the inner surface.
