The Alte Gymnasium Neuruppin is a public building in Neuruppin . It was built in 1790. It was supposed to combine the former school houses of Neuruppin in one building. The inscription above the main entrance: Civibus Aevi Futuri ("The citizens of the future") goes back to Otto Carl Friedrich von Voss . In 1791 the inauguration of the school took place. In the following year, 1792, it was named Friedrich-Wilhelms-Schule. From 1974 onwards, most of the historical interior structure and furnishings were removed during reconstruction work. In 1982 the building opened as a cultural and educational center. Restoration work took place in 2009 - 2011. Today the district music school, the youth art school, the city library, the Theodor Fontane Society and the Brandenburg Medical School are located here.

Important students were among others: Karl Friedrich Schinkel , Theodor Fontane and Wilhelm Gentz . Karl Eduard Haase was a teacher here.
