Althofer forest

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Althofer Forest is a small forest area on the southern edge of the municipality of Bockfließ , immediately north of Strasshof an der Nordbahn , Lower Austria .

The name is likely to come from the second half of the 19th century and derive from the Althof, an estate that was located northeast of the forest. Around 1837 the forest was still known as the Küniglwald.

The forest serves the residents of Strasshof as an easily accessible recreational area. In 2006 there were protests against the then planned construction of a road through the forest. The Althof hunting lodge and the Wendlingerhof settlement are located in the forest .
