Altona test suite

Altona Test Suite is a set of eight test files DIN A3 (Measure, Visual, roman16-1 / 2/3/4, Technical 1, Technical 2) in Portable Document Format , which are used to test whether a digital proof system or a CtP system (RIP) can correctly implement the PDF / X-4 or PDF / X-3 standard . The Altona Test Suite is used to check PDF / X conformity and also to visually and metrologically test the color rendering of all software and hardware components in a PDF workflow from prepress to printing.

A first version of the Altona Test Suite was published in 2003/2004. Since then, Altona Test Suite has established itself worldwide as the standard test equipment for process control in prepress and printing. The second version, Altona Test Suite 2.0, was released in 2012–2014; In addition, there was an update in 2016 with reference prints taking into account optical brighteners. There is a free online version of the Altona Test Suite (www.eci.org) as well as a fee-based, more comprehensive application package (www.altonatestsuite.com) with 87 reference files, 52 DIN A3 reference prints according to standard printing conditions according to ISO 12647 and a comprehensive one Documentation in German and English (176 pages DIN A4). The Altona Test Suite was developed jointly by the Federal Association of Printing and Media and the European Color Initiative . Other project partners are Fogra and Ugra . Print shops, pre-press companies and manufacturers of materials and systems (paper, printing machines, software) have contributed to the development of the application package with numerous free services.
