Alttext school

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The old text school ( Chinese  古文經 學  /  古文 经 学 , Pinyin Gǔwén jīngxué , W.-G. Ku-wen ching-hsüeh ) is one of the two main schools in the study of the Confucian classics in the history of Chinese philosophy . The establishment of the official position of Confucianism (see New Text School 今文 经 学 , Jīnwén jīngxué ) began with a passionate and widespread study of the Confucian classics. Following the appearance of the New Text School classics, another version of the Confucian classics is said to have been found in masonry or underground. These classics, which were written in old large seal script, were said to have been the original pre-Han version, and they were consequently referred to as old script classics. Liu Xin (died 23) was the most important representative of this school.
