Alwin Peschke , also Albin Peschke (born June 6, 1869 in Pulsnitz , † 1929 in Berlin ), was a German composer, musician and conductor.

Career

Alwin Peschke received his training as a trumpeter with Julius Kosleck , professor at the Royal University of Music in Berlin. In April 1893, when he was only 24, Peschke took over the chapel of the 7th Dragoons Regiment in Saarbrücken. During his service in Saarbrücken, Alwin Peschke, together with the music master Lothar Ströbe, achieved a high degree of popularity, among other things by performing songs by the composers Franz Liszt and Richard Wagner in arrangements for military bands. Peschke also became Ströbe's son-in-law. From 1900 Alwin Peschke did his service as a baton trumpeter and head of the chapel of the 2nd Guard Dragoon Regiment, Empress Alexandra of Russia, in Berlin. Until his retirement, Peschke obtained the title of music master and several awards such as the General Medal of Honor and the Golden Cross of Merit of the Royal Romanian Crown. Alwin Peschke composed and arranged some pieces of music such as the "Alexandra March" in honor of Empress Alexandra and the "Trot March Graf Geßler". Richard Strauss asked Alwin Peschke in his letter of January 22, 1907 to prepare a version for his military march “Parade March for Cavalry No. 2”. The last known address of Peschke was Urbanstrasse 170 in Berlin in 1929.
