Aly Bain

Aly Bain , MBE (born May 17, 1946 in Lerwick , Shetland Islands ) is a Scottish fiddler .

He became known through the founding of the folk band Boys of the Lough , and later through several solo albums. In 1994 he received the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his musical achievements . He received an honorary doctorate as "Doctor of Music (DMus)" from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and from the University of St Andrews .
