Amadeus Templeton (* 1975 in Herdecke ) is a German cellist and cultural manager.

life and work

Templeton studied music with Bernhard Gmelin until his diploma in 2005 at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater . Freelance years as a cellist and cultural manager followed.

He is the creator of ideas (and was a managing partner) of concerti , the classic magazine. In 2009 Templeton founded the TONALi cultural project together with Boris Matchin , which he leads as managing partner of TONALi gGmbH. Since 2010 he has been a guest lecturer at the Private University of Witten / Herdecke . Since 2015 he has been a member of the Presidium of the Landesmusikrat Hamburg, since 2016 managing partner of the non-profit artist agency TONALiSTEN, which he co-founded, and since 2017 a board member of the Gunter and Juliane Ribke Foundation.

Amadeus Templeton has received various cultural awards:

  • 2005 Special award from the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation for founding the concerti publishing house
  • 2009 Special award from the Oscar and Vera Ritter Foundation for the establishment of TONALi
  • 2011 Special prize for successful interdisciplinary networking and promotion of young artists from the Prof. Wolfgang and Isolde Stabenow Foundation
  • 2013 Ritter Prize for TONALi (15,000 euros)
  • 2014 Culture Prize of the Gunter and Juliane Ribke Foundation for TONALi (25,000 euros)
  • 2015 Hamburg Prize for Cultural Communication for TONALi (3,000 euros)
  • 2017 ECHO Klassik (prize for promoting young talent) for TONALi
