Amanda Hocking (born July 12, 1984 ) is an American writer of fantasy novels . With well over 8 million e-books sold (as of November 2013 ), she is the most successful self-publishing author in the world. Hocking has since signed with one of the largest publishers in the USA.

life and career

Amanda Hocking worked as a geriatric nurse and wrote vampire novels in her spare time . After an unsuccessful search for a publisher, Hocking published her first books on Amazon Kindle as e-books in April 2010 . In the first few months she sold up to 9,000 e-books per day, earning more than 100,000 dollars per month. Hocking quit her job as a geriatric nurse within the first month after publication. To date, Amanda Hocking has sold over a million e-books of her vampire fantasy stories. Her books are now sold in printed book form in large parts of the world, including Europe and Asia . In Germany her books are marketed by cbt Verlag . In 2011, several filmmakers and film studios became aware of the author and her books and bought the film rights to several books. The trilogy " The daughter of the Tryll " is now to be filmed. Terri Tatchell wrote the script .

In 2011, Amanda Hocking signed a contract with the US publisher St Martin's Press for a book series for young people .
