Amber Smith is an indie band from Budapest , Hungary, founded in 2000 .

Band history

Amber Smith was founded in 2000 as a project by singer, guitarist and songwriter Imre Poniklo. After the first two albums Nincs szükség ránk (2001) and My Little Servant (2003), a solid band formed with Oszkár Ács (bass), Zoltán Kőváry (guitar) and Bence Bátor (guitar). The band then toured Europe and Japan.

In 2004 rePrint appeared , which musically broke new ground. Robin Guthrie of the Cocteau Twins took over the production of the album. The album is a mix of rock and new wave elements. Comparisons were made by German media with The Cure , The Pretenders , HIM and Deine Lakaien . The “dark-melancholy” mood of the songs was emphasized.

The band worked on their new album in 2007. Chris Brown, who worked with Radiohead and Paul McCartney , was busy producing. In 2008 the album was also released in Germany on the independent label Firestation Records .
