location

It is located on the north side of Ambrosiusplatz in a corner on the west side of the confluence of Hesekielstraße with the square in Magdeburg's Sudenburg district .

Architecture and history

The one to two-storey building was built between 1820 and 1830. It is possible that there was a similarly designed building in a mirror-image arrangement on the opposite side of Ezekielstrasse. The design of the simple house was carried out in the style of classicism . The building served as the parsonage of the St. Ambrose Church in the middle of the square . In 1887 the house was rebuilt, which essentially gave it its present shape. The upper storey was placed on the actual corner wing. The house is covered by a crooked hip roof or hipped roof .

After the parish had acquired another piece of land on Halberstädter Strasse, the old rectory was sold to a doctor in 1929.

In the local register of monuments , the house is listed under registration number 094 81917 as a monument .

Due to its prominent corner location, the building is considered to be of urban development importance for Ambrosiusplatz. In addition, as a house from the founding time of the Sudenburg, it has a city-historical significance and also shows the original conception of the development of the square.
