Life

Schütky was first taught by her father, the composer Franz Josef Schütky , and then further trained by Pauline Viardot-Garcia in Paris.

She made her debut in Stuttgart in 1880 and then sang at the Nuremberg City Theater from 1884 to 1885 and at the Ulm City Theater from 1886 to 1887. In 1888 she was appointed to the Hoftheater Stuttgart, where she enjoyed a great career until 1906.

From 1906 she works as a singing teacher and writer and librettist. It can be verified in Stuttgart until 1918.

She was considered an excellent dramatic and coloratura singer, mainly in Italian operas. Her splendid, well-trained soprano voice received no less praise than her dramatic performance. Of her mostly captivating achievements, with a genuinely artistic spirit, we would like to highlight: "Aida", "Santuzza", "Countess" in Figaro , "Lucia", "Leonore" in Fidelio , "Frau Fluth", "Amelia" etc.

Her sister was the opera singer Fernande Schütky .

Remarks

  1. This information relates to operissimo. Lt. Eisenberg she was in Neustrelitz from 1889 (until at least 1902), where she is said to have been appointed Mecklenburg Chamber Singer. However, this is likely to be misinformation.
