Origin and history
The American Blue Gascon Hound , as a hound, is a hunting dog . He belongs to the "Gascon type" and hunts loudly . In the early days of the breed's development, a certain appearance was not important. In the 1950s, a search was made for a dog for nighttime hunting competitions. A fast, elegant, sharp-nosed hound with perseverance and thoroughness was the order of the day. The aim of the competitions was to get as many raccoons as possible to stand up. When other breed types proved themselves better, the lovers of the old Gascon founded the "American blue Gascon Association" to preserve the traditional. Today he is a versatile hunting dog for everyday hunting, especially in lonely and rugged areas, as his loud voice can be heard over 5 miles.
