The American Football and Cheerleading Association of North Rhine-Westphalia e. V. is the institution responsible for the issues and operations of American football in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia .

The American Football Association of North Rhine-Westphalia e. V. (AFV-NRW) was founded on February 3rd, 1980 in Düsseldorf . The association initially initiated the Northwest German Football League on its own . Later the association, then just called AFV, was one of the founding members of the American Football Association Germany . In the course of the inclusion of cheerleading teams, the name was again changed to American Football and Cheerleading Verband NRW e. V. (AFCV NRW e.V.). The AFCV NRW e. V. has around 10,000 members (as of July 2015).
